Record-High Deficit May Dash Big Plans
It was not breaking news -- at least as The Washington Post makes that call. But it was their lead story, and the record might become ammunition for those people who want to do nothing -- maybe cut taxes as long as it does not cut funding for their favorite campaign contributors.
I tried several constructions and "record deficit" worked best in keeping the subject to the record of the fiscal year. There was a preliminary report a week earlier than the official word. So there is a bump at October 8 and then the larger spike on October 16. So, is it a 'one day wonder' or will it become an ongoing stream?
The spike with messages about the preliminary announcement is there at roughly October 8. Then the official announcement and a much larger spike. But it only took a couple of days before it was down to the rather constant messaging. By October 25 there were only a handful of messages and I stopped collecting. The total number of messages found was 1718.
